900 New Jobs in Kongsvinger, Norway
If all goes according to plan, a nano-silicon factory will be built in Kongsvinger area. By 2030, the Nanopow battery factory will be ready to produce 300,000 nanosilicon powders a year. Technology is based on 20 years of research and experience and will provide batteries with a much longer lifespan than today.
This means 900 new jobs, said Hans Geelmuyden of Nanopow. He presented the project at Industriforum together with researcher and managing director Luxsacumar Sivakanesar.
But in these times we have to have a plan B, said Geelmuyden. - The production is very power-intensive. A factory will save 200 percent on electricity costs compared to Kongsvinger. If the energy price remains high and the lack of energy the same, we will have to move the factory to other places in Norway.
NanoPow AS was established in Oslo in 2016 after having patented and developed a method for environmentally friendly and energy-efficient production of anode material for future li-ion batteries. The production is based on the Norwegian raw materials silicon and biological waste mass from agriculture. The company is based on 20 years of research and has developed an innovative process to produce the next generation of nanosilicon powder.
